Mobile AI-first application Fonafix for diagnostics

Fonafix is a mobile tool for data collection in the diagnosis of speech disorders. Users submit a video and a form, based on which AI generates a therapeutic plan.
Scicake needed to build a functional MVP within two months for pilot testing and investor discussions. The application had to support authentication, audio/video data collection, AI-driven planning, and specialist feedback—all prepared for TestFlight on iOS.

FONAFIX is a system that uses artificial intelligence for the diagnosis and therapy of dysarthria, a speech disorder often caused by neurological conditions. The therapeutic part of the system combines:
- A web interface for specialists, who use AI to generate individualized therapy plans.
- A mobile application for patients, where they perform exercises with audiovisual support and receive feedback on their progress.
The system also includes innovative clinical tools, such as the 3F Test, a validated method for assessing the severity of dysarthria. In collaboration with Brno University Hospital, a shortened version of the test (ICC = 0.98) was incorporated into FONAFIX, strengthening its clinical reliability.
Concept validation
Scicake needed to validate its concept within two months using a functional prototype that would support pilot testing and investor discussions. The application had to enable user authentication, data collection (including audio and video recordings), generation of therapeutic plans using AI, and feedback from specialists — all deployed via TestFlight for iOS.
Pilot for investor discussions
Utima delivered a mobile application built in React Native, connected to a Django backend on Azure, within the required timeframe. Our responsibilities included:
- Development of both frontend and backend features of the mobile application and ensuring smooth integration
- Implementation of audio and video data collection and secure communication
- Connecting UI mockups to backend logic and delivering a functional MVP
Despite limited capacity and a tight timeline, all key features — authentication, data collection forms, therapeutic plan generation, and specialist feedback — were implemented and deployed for pilot testing.

Advancing digital healthcare validated by Brno University Hospital
The prototype was delivered on time and deployed on TestFlight (iOS) in July 2025. It enabled real-world feedback from early users and specialists. It provided materials for validation and support during investor discussions. It also became part of an ongoing clinical study at Brno University Hospital, strengthening credibility in the field of digital healthcare.
